Most recognized for their tour with Prince and the New Power Generation, the Hornheads are much more than a talented group of horn players; they have performed over two million concerts in over 20 countries and, on Feb. 14 at 7:30 p.m., they will be performing at the Page Theatre.
In addition to Prince, the Hornheads have also been featured on national and international artists’ albums such as Carmen Electra and the Jonas Brothers. They have performed with artists such as Janet Jackson, Rod Stewart and Lenny Kravitz, along with several others, as show players.
The members of the group consist of trombonist Michael Nelson, trumpeters Steve Strand and Dave Jensen and saxophonists Kenni Holmen and Kathy Jensen.
When performing as an ensemble they bring a distinguishing finesse to their jazz and funk music. Q Magazine reviewed the Hornheads while they worked with Prince. “The row of horns punching with a staccato precision beyond the grasp of science or Synclaiver,” said Q Magazine.
